CREATING YOUR NEW YEAR: A New Years Eve Retreat in the Cotswolds

Rest, Restore and Reconnect to Spirit and Land Cotswolds – Yoga Nidra, dream sharing, sacred walks, with time in the Yew Grove, the woodland, hillside, waterside and by the cosy fireside!

A new year weekend retreat with Uma Dinsmore-Tuli and Nirlipta Tuli, co-founders of the Yoga Nidra Network.

Who is the retreat intended for?

Everyone is welcome. No experience necessary. This is for absolutely anyone who is in need of very deep and sustained rest. Facilitators, care givers and teachers (especially those who have already trained with us at the Yoga Nidra Network!) are also warmly invited to take rest for themselves. You will practise the skills of deep self-care through yoga nidrā and community rest. This two day retreat will nourish and nurture you, to foster a sense of well-being in the midst of all that life can bring.

Imagine a whole weekend of being pampered with Yoga Nidrā.  From beginning to end, the weekend will be filled with a variety of nidrās; all in the profound nourishing rest of nidrā with Uma and Nirlipta and surrounded by magical landscapes right on our doorstep  that we will explore together. We will welcome you home to your Rested Self.

How long is it?

10.30am Sunday 31 December 2024  – 4.30pm Monday 01 January 2024

What are the accommodation options?

Accommodation is not included in the price of the retreat but is offered at a special rate of £38 nightly at our neighbouring monastery.  Details of how to book your accommodation separately are provided upon booking.

We are delighted to be offering you a weekend of rest in conjunction with our long standing allies at Brownshill Monastery.  The Monastery of Our Lady and St Bernard is the home of a community of six Bernardine Cistercian Nuns. They follow the Rule of St Benedict and are part of the Cistercian family and have been hosting our guests for almost fifteen years now. Situated in the hills of the south Cotswolds, in a designated area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, the Cotswold valleys and hills enhance the peace of the monastery which is conducive to their life of prayer.

The guesthouse reflects the simplicity of the Cistercian way of life and, at the same time, is warm and comfortable. They provide an escape from the hustle and bustle of everyday life to benefit from the peace of the monastery, the presence of a prayerful Community and from the lovely surrounding countryside.

Accommodation in a twin room with breakfast included is £38, upon booking you will be emailed details of how to book your bed.

If you prefer to stay somewhere else, here is a list of alternative options in the area.

What do I need to bring?

For the practice – nothing at all, just your good self.  We will provide a super comfy yoga nidrā nest for you.

Other things to pack are:  A journal, warm socks, a hat, walking boots and a waterproof coat. Please bring warm gloves and clothes that keep you cosy and dry when we are out in the land.

What will this weekend give me?

Time to experience the nourishing practical benefits resting in nurturing yoga nidrā: the meditative restful sleep of the yogis.

Space to enjoy during the weekend a variety of special walks to sacred groves, rivers and streams and woodlands – hills and views too!

A chance to let go of the stresses and anxieties of daily life and to reconnect to rhythmic cycles of wellness and creativity.

The nurturing ‘resonant echo’ of yoga nidrā so you can feel how the benefits of the practice last for much longer than the practice itself.

The magical healing qualities of deep physiological rest, and a sense of how to replicate that for yourself when you go home.

Nourishing meals cooked with love.

Accommodation in a peaceful community.

What will I be able to do after this retreat?

To feel nurtured, rested, reconnected to your resting self! This is not a training course to facilitate nidrā. It is a weekend of nurture, acknowledging and honouring the importance of deep rest, reconnection and restoration, and enjoying being held in a dedicated space for that to happen.

Please note that this course doesn’t qualify you to teach or facilitate yoga nidrā.  It is entirely independent of any of our other courses, offered by the Yoga Nidrā Network. It is a standalone event, and of course, it is also a nourishing choice for anyone who has done any of our other courses, workshops or training.
