This is one of the yoga nidrā practices included in the Treasury of Transcripts in ‘Nidrā Shakti: The Power of Rest – An Illustrated Encyclopaedia of Yoga Nidrā’.
Recorded during a Facebook live sleep nidra on Friday 5th of June 2020 during the midst of the Covid-19 Lockdown period.
This is an example of a sleep nidrā with triangles and a narrative component. It’s an example of the process of conscious overloading. The conscious mind is effectively given a little more to do than is within its competence, but which for the unconscious mind is a delightful game. Trance and, in this case, sleep are likely to ensue. It’s more wordy than pre-lockdown nidrās. The continuing chatty narrative allows for the sheer weight of words to aid in the overwhelming nature of trance induction, deepening and direction. So too, does the illusion of choice and using questioning to facilitate the mind inducing trance itself, allowing it to realise that it is an active part of the process, and engages in colluding in submerging the conscious mind. Cheesy humour is in the practice in a couple of places. People were getting a bit despairing at this point in the lockdown and humour.
