The essence of Celtic spirituality was presence. Natural rhythm was honoured and connection to the earth. Derval Dunford is from the West of Ireland, her business is called Suí. Suí is the Irish word for ‘sit’. Inspired by the ‘down to earth’, yet creative nature of Celtic spirituality and also the Irish language, Derval’s practices reflect the essence of nature and simplicity.  She is a qualified TYN teacher, and a qualified MBSR teacher (Mindfulness-based Stress Reduction), BreathMastery teacher, and HeartMath Coach. She creates nourishing, grounding tracks, to connect with the heart, and the earth. A wellbbeing pioneer in Ireland, Derval has helped 30,500 people since 2006. She has worked with the National Health Service staff since 2010. Derval’s interest in mindfulness, Yoga Nidra and breathwork was inspired by her life challenges. She suffered from PTSD (Post Traumatic Stress Disorder) in early adulthood, chronic fatigue and MCS (multiple Chemical Sensitivity) in her thirties.

Having learned the hard way (on many occasions) Derval has a real passion for sharing the simplicity, common sense approach, and ease of mindfulness,Yoga Nidra and breathwork with others. She has been practising Yoga Nidra, on and off, for well over twenty years, and practising mindfulness for twelve years, and breathing since 1966 🙂 She has a deep love of her country, and the ‘down to earth’ nature of Celtic spirituality.

Check out Suí handcrafted meditation stools. Made by Mick Hogan, Derval’s partner, each Sui stool is literally a unique Slice of Time.

As co-founder of ‘Mindfulness Matters’, Derval has trained 9000 Irish primary school teachers and children in mindfulness, relaxation, and well-being.

Contribute to the Yoga Nidra Network

We have chosen to offer these audio recordings freely. We do this because we know yoga nidra to be a valuable practice which we want to share widely. It does, however take a fair bit of time and effort to upload the recordings and maintain this site so you can use it.

If you feel you have benefitted from what you have heard or learnt from this site then please do consider making a contribution towards the maintenance and upkeep of the site. We’d appreciate that, and it would help to ensure we can continue to offer this services freely.

Thank You, Uma Dinsmore-Tuli and Nirlipta Tuli, Co-Founders, Yoga Nidra Network
